Lefty, finally in the snow!

Finally we saw a substantial amount of snow here. I live in Canada it is unheard of not to have snow. Who said global warming is a myth? I suggest they read ˆThe Weather Makersˆ by Tim Flannery, a profound book, even Jack recommends it.
Who's Jack you say? Well he's a politician I am smitten with, I wanted to invite him to my wedding just to get the rejection letter but Aaron said Jack Layton is so eager, he might just show up.

Alas, here are some pics of lefty modeling his fashionable sweaters created by my friend the knitting genius. Doesn't he look handsome?

Lefty meets Mr Possum

In the kitchen making myself a lemon tea. Lefty let me know that he wanted out the backdoor. Since it was part of his usual routine, I let him out. While searching in the cupboards for some honey, I heard a cur-fluffle in the backyard. I rushed to see what was happening. I thought I might be saving some poor creature, since last year, Lefty caught the neighbors cat. This was not the case here, for I discovered that Lefty had encountered a Possum. I shouted Lefty's name like a distraught mother who was watching the demise of their child. Lefty had cornered the Possum and they were taking turns intimidating each-other, jutting forward with mouths open either barking or snarling. When Lefty heard my call, he backed off as he was in trouble. By that point I was down the porch stairs and in the middle of the backyard. Lefty ran to the opposite corner and then passed me and I quickly rushed him through the backdoor. I didn't, until that point, even look to see what the possum was doing, but I'm sure he was running away too. I checked him for wounds but he was unharmed. I think he was a little traumatized because after that he stuck close to me for the whole night.

The next week I was baking cookies, setting them out on the porch railing to cool and I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. It was him, Mr. Possum, it took a moment to realize it because he was moving away, I though he was one of the fat neighborhood cats, but it was him, after my cookies I suspect.

That is the last we saw of him, so far...

This is how he likes to spend an afternoon.

I swear Lefty can read your mind!
